About Our Centre

Every Precious Cargo centre is unique, and Blackwood is no exception. Located a short distance from Wittunga Botanic Gardens, this centre has 2 large verandahs, a kitchen cooking platform, and a purpose-built music room. The Montessori focus on sensorial and practical life is evident, with a vegetable garden, Grow Free cart, and a pet turtle! They also learn about empathy and consideration through their strong Community Links with Happy Feet Dance, Oz Harvest, CFS, and the indigenous community.

    5 Day Week Discount
    Children enrolled for 5 days per week receive a 5% discount on fees.
    Centre Pets
    Part of the Precious Cargo family are our wonderful Centre pets. Come meet them!
    Dinner
    We understand work arrangements and schedules mean that dinner time can be a stressful experience. We provide your child dinner if they attend their Centre until late.
    ELC Program
    Funded kindergarten 4, emphasizing school readiness, and a tailored program to meet your child's needs and learning.
    Holiday Discounts
    We offer 4 weeks at 50% discount each financial year. *Conditions Apply
    Inclusive Support
    All educators are trained in allergy awareness, CPR and first aid and we welcome children who require additional support.
    Indoor and Outdoor Environments
    Children have access to purpose built indoor and outdoor classrooms.
    Infant Formula
    Just like supplying solid meals to older children, we also provide formula for our infants.
    Montessori Curriculum
    Purposeful environments, emphasizing real life learning and experiences and trained educators in the Montessori method of learning.
    Nappies and Wipes
    No need to provide your child's nappies and wipes as these are included in your fees.
    Public Holidays
    Our Centre is closed on all Public Holidays however fees remain payable for permanent bookings that fall across those days.
    Sunscreen
    Sun safety is highly important, and practices to ensure children are safe from the sun is imbedded into the program and routines. Sunscreen is provided to all children who attend the Centre.

    Meet Our Team

    Charini De Silva

    Centre Manager

    I began my early childhood career at Precious Cargo Woodville Park, where I developed my skills across a range of roles, starting as an Assistant Educator and progressing to an Early Childhood Teacher.

    Eager to broaden my experience, I then moved to another early childhood centre, where I took on leadership roles as Assistant Director and later Director. These opportunities allowed me to grow professionally and strengthen my leadership capabilities. However, I found myself drawn back to Precious Cargo, as I deeply value the Montessori practices, along with the organisation’s strong ethics and supportive culture. I am now proud to be part of Precious Cargo Blackwood as the Centre Director, where I can continue to contribute meaningfully while aligning with a philosophy, I am passionate about. We look forward to welcoming you and sharing this great journey together.
